Planning the Proposal at Wingersheek Beach

When Mitchel first reached out, I was instantly all in. We grew up on the same street, and our families have known each other for years, so I knew how important this moment was going to be.

We talked through a couple of ideas, a hike in the woods with their dog or a beach proposal and ultimately landed on Wingersheek Beach. Since Mitchel often g swimming together (even in colder months) with Kate coming along, choosing a marriage proposal on the beach felt natural and true to their relationship.

Wingersheek is also incredibly spacious, which made it perfect for a November proposal. We knew we’d have plenty of privacy, and it gave us the flexibility to plan everything out without worrying about crowds.

The Proposal Moment

The day itself was freezing and a bit windy, but honestly, none of that mattered. There was so much anticipation leading up to the moment that the cold completely faded into the background.

I hid in the dunes with my zoom lens, and Mitchel and I shared our locations so I could track exactly when they were arriving. Beforehand, I had sent him photos of where to stand, so everything would unfold exactly as planned.

Once they reached the spot, I waited quietly and watched it all happen.

It was a quick yes, the kind that says everything without needing a single extra second. Pure excitement, joy, and emotion all wrapped into one moment.

After the “Yes”

After Mitchel proposed, I gave them a few minutes to soak it all in before coming out to say hi. That pause always feels important, giving couples space to be fully present before stepping in.

We took a few photos afterward, capturing that just-engaged energy, but we didn’t stay out long because of the cold. They had something even more special waiting a surprise celebration with family for Kate, which made the day even more unforgettable.

A Relationship That Just Feels Easy

One of the things that stood out most about Mitchel and Kate is how easy their relationship feels. You can tell they genuinely enjoy being together and are so excited for what’s ahead.

That kind of connection makes moments like this even more powerful to witness and to photograph.
