Why Couples Love Glen Magna Farms

One of my favorite things about Glen Magna Farms is how it manages to feel spacious and intimate at the same time.

There are so many different areas throughout the property, but nothing ever feels far away. Instead, every part of your wedding day has its own dedicated space, which keeps the day moving naturally and gives each part of your wedding its own feel.

The morning starts inside the historic estate where you’re getting ready in beautiful, timeless spaces that actually feel comfortable to spend a few hours in. Then everyone heads to the gardens for the ceremony before moving to cocktail hour on the lawn. Guests can grab a drink, play lawn games, wander through the gardens, or even explore inside the mansion while we sneak away for portraits.

Finally, everyone gathers under the sailcloth tent for dinner, dancing, and celebrating.

Instead of spending your entire wedding in one room, every part of the day feels like a new experience.

I think that’s one of the biggest reasons guests love this venue.

There’s always something beautiful to look at, somewhere to explore, and the entire property feels welcoming without ever being overwhelming.

It Really Does Feel Like a Secret Garden

I’ve photographed a lot of beautiful venues over the years, but Glen Magna Farms has something that’s hard to explain until you’re actually there.

It feels peaceful.

Every path leads somewhere beautiful. Mature trees, colorful gardens, stone walls, historic architecture, and winding walkways all come together to create one of the prettiest properties I’ve photographed.

You don’t have to go searching for photo locations because they’re everywhere.

One of my favorite things to hear from guests is, “I had no idea this place existed.”

It truly feels tucked away from everything else.

Whether you’re getting married in May when everything starts blooming or later in the season when the gardens are full, the property is beautiful from start to finish.

Even on cloudy days, it photographs incredibly well because the gardens add so much color and texture.

A Wedding Day at Glen Magna Farms

One thing I’ve learned after photographing more than 80 weddings is that beautiful venues don’t always make wedding days easy.

Glen Magna Farms does.

Everything has been designed to help the day flow naturally, which means less stress for you, your family, your guests, and every vendor working behind the scenes.

Getting Ready

The getting-ready spaces inside the estate are some of my favorites.

The bridal suite is bright, spacious, timeless, and feels more like a beautiful home than a hotel room. There are two connected rooms with a shared bathroom, so everyone has plenty of space to spread out while still being together.

The groom’s suite has a slightly darker feel but is just as comfortable and gives the guys their own place to relax before the ceremony.

Because everything happens on-site, there isn’t any rushing between hotels or worrying about transportation. Everyone can settle in, enjoy the morning, and really soak it all in.

First Look Under the Beech Tree

If you’re thinking about doing a first look, I can’t recommend the Beech Tree enough.

It’s tucked away enough that it feels private while still being close to everything else. During the last wedding I photographed here, the couple shared their first look beneath the tree, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

They had a quiet moment together before the ceremony, and from there we went right into portraits without ever feeling rushed.

It’s one of my favorite spots on the property because it photographs beautifully from every angle and gives couples a chance to slow down before the excitement of the ceremony begins.

One of My Favorite Ceremony Spaces in Massachusetts

I might be a little biased, but I truly think Glen Magna Farms has one of the prettiest ceremony spaces in Massachusetts.

It’s romantic, private, and surrounded by gardens that don’t need much extra decorating because they’re already stunning on their own.

The landscaping creates such a beautiful backdrop that your ceremony naturally becomes the focus.

Even with 150 or 200 guests, the space still feels intimate, which is something that’s hard to find.

Cocktail Hour at Glen Magna Farms

Cocktail hour is one of my favorite parts of the day here.

Instead of guests standing around waiting for the reception to begin, they actually have space to enjoy themselves. They can grab a drink, play lawn games, explore the gardens, or head inside the mansion while the two of you sneak away for portraits.

One thing I always notice is how relaxed everyone feels. Guests aren’t wondering what’s next because there’s plenty to do, and you’re never far away. It creates such a nice balance where you can enjoy a few quiet moments together without feeling like you’ve disappeared for an hour.

Because there are so many portrait locations just steps away, we can get an incredible variety of photos without keeping you away from your guests for long.

The Reception Tent

The reception tent is another reason I love photographing weddings here.

It’s bright, clean, and spacious without feeling too big. Even with a full guest list, it still feels intimate and welcoming. There’s plenty of room for dancing, speeches, and celebrating, while still giving guests space to move around comfortably.

One thing I really appreciate is how close everything is. The restrooms are only a short walk away, guests can easily move between spaces, and nothing feels inconvenient or disconnected.

As the sun starts to set and the bistro lights come on, the whole space takes on such a warm, inviting feel. It photographs beautifully from every angle and creates the perfect atmosphere to end the day.

The Staff Makes All the Difference

I’ve photographed weddings at a lot of venues, and I can honestly say the team at Glen Magna Farms is one of my favorites to work with.

Before the wedding day even arrives, they reach out to every vendor with parking information, timelines, and everything we need to know before we get there. It might seem like a small detail, but it makes such a difference because everyone starts the day on the same page.

Throughout the day, they’re constantly checking in with the couple, vendors, family members, and each other. They keep everyone updated, help things stay on schedule, and make sure no one feels lost or forgotten.

One thing that always stands out to me is how well they treat everyone.

The couple.

The families.

The guests.

The vendors.

When a venue has a team that genuinely cares about everyone involved, you can feel it. It creates such a positive atmosphere, and I truly believe that’s one of the reasons weddings here feel so relaxed.

This is honestly one of the hardest sections to write because there are so many incredible locations.

If I had to narrow it down, these are the spots I always find myself coming back to:

The best part is that you don’t have to travel anywhere.

Everything is right there.

That means we spend less time walking and more time taking photos or getting you back to your guests.

Even if your wedding day is cloudy, the gardens provide so much color and texture that your photos still feel bright and full of life.

Honestly, it’s harder to find a bad photo location than a good one.

A Few Planning Tips

After photographing weddings here, there are a few things I’d recommend to every couple.

Consider a first look.
If you’re on the fence, Glen Magna Farms is one of those venues where a first look really makes sense. The Beech Tree is such a beautiful, private location, and it allows us to get a big portion of your portraits done before the ceremony. That means you can spend more time enjoying cocktail hour with your guests.

Leave time to explore the gardens.
There are so many beautiful spots throughout the property that it’s worth setting aside a little extra portrait time. We don’t have to rush from place to place because everything is close together, but having a few extra minutes lets us take advantage of all the different backdrops.

Trust your venue team.
One of the biggest strengths of Glen Magna Farms is the staff. They do an incredible job keeping everything on schedule, communicating with vendors, and making sure the day runs smoothly. Trust them. They truly have your best interest in mind.

Don’t skip sunset photos.
Even if it’s only for ten minutes, they’re worth it. The light around the gardens in the evening is beautiful, and those quiet moments together often end up being some of my favorite photos from the day.

Final Thoughts

After photographing weddings all over New England, Glen Magna Farms continues to be one of those venues I’ll always be excited to come back to.

Not just because it’s beautiful.

If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic, and romantic location for your Wingaersheek Beach engagement photos, this spot checks every box.

When Camryn and Zach first reached out to schedule their engagement photos, they weren’t quite sure where they wanted to shoot but they did know they wanted the beach. Since we were planning their session during the off-season, I immediately suggested Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester, MA. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches in Massachusetts and honestly, all of New England.

We pretty much had the beach to ourselves, which is one of the perks of planning engagement photos during the off-season. The forecast had called for fog, rain, and chilly temps but Camryn and Zach were totally down for it. And I’m so glad they were! If being a wedding photographer in New England has taught me anything, it’s to go with the weather because magic can happen even when the forecast says otherwise.

We ran around the beach (literally), climbed the rocks, and captured the most beautiful, candid moments including a few sweet photos with their adorable 4-month-old daughter. She is just the cutest and totally stole the show for a few frames.

Wingaersheek Beach engagement photos always offer something different, whether it’s a golden sunset or a misty shoreline. The soft colors, wide skies, and unique rock formations make it a dream location for couples who want natural and timeless photos.

I can’t wait for their wedding in August, it’s going to be the best day!

Arianne & George’s Stunning Fall Waverly Oaks Wedding

Arianne and George had the most beautiful day at Waverly Oaks. With the perfect mix of gorgeous fall weather, a stunning location, and the love of their closest friends and family, everything came together effortlessly. Waverly Oaks Golf Club provided the ideal backdrop for a celebration that felt relaxed, joyful, and full of heart.

Engagement Photos

I first met Arianne and George the winter before their wedding for their engagement session. They chose a new location for me in Boston, one that was extra special because it’s where they got engaged. From the moment I met them, it was clear how much love and respect they have for each other. It all felt so natural and effortless. I remember one moment in particular: I asked them to pretend I wasn’t there and just enjoy being together. Without hesitation, George started twirling Arianne and dancing with her, something they love to do at home. It was pure joy and so authentically them.

Getting Ready

Fast forward to their wedding day in October. We started the morning at a nearby hotel for getting ready photos. Everything was so smooth and organized, thanks in large part to Arianne, who is incredibly on top of things, and her amazing bridal party and mom, who were beyond helpful. They had everything laid out and even reserved a separate room free of hair and makeup products so we had a clean, clutter-free space for photos.

I can’t stress this enough. Assigning tasks to your bridal party really makes the day easier. Because they were so prepared, I was able to start with flat-lay photos in that clean space. Not only did they have gorgeous details ready for me to photograph, but their florist (thank you @texturefloraldesign) also provided the most stunning floral accents. It made such a difference and truly elevated the entire gallery.

First Look, Private Vows & Portraits

Arianne and George chose to do a first look and share private vows before their ceremony, and honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of the day. Even with two photographers and two videographers present, it still felt incredibly intimate. They were completely focused on each other and those quiet, emotional moments before becoming husband and wife.

After their first look, we moved right into portraits. While we did more photos later in the day, this gave us a beautiful variety and helped the timeline stay relaxed. We also took advantage of this time to do wedding party and family photos. One of the best parts of doing a first look is that you get to spend more time with your soon-to-be spouse, shake off some of those pre-ceremony nerves, and get all the formal photos done early. That way, after the ceremony, your wedding party and family can head straight to cocktail hour, and you can take a few more photos and get a minute to breathe!

Ceremony

The ceremony was held outside at Waverly Oaks, just as the sun began to set, and the lighting was absolutely beautiful. There was a soft golden glow over everything, creating the most romantic atmosphere. Arianne looked radiant as she walked down the aisle, and even though she and George had already seen each other during their first look, the emotion on their faces made it feel like they were seeing each other for the first time all over again.

Their ceremony was filled with so much love and joy, and they ended it with the best dip kiss I’ve ever seen. It was such a fun, cinematic moment that perfectly captured their energy as a couple. Everyone was cheering, and you could just feel how happy and present they were in that moment.

Sunset Photos

After the ceremony, we took full advantage of the setting sun to capture those dreamy golden hour portraits. We hopped on a golf cart and explored a few beautiful spots around the property before heading back up to the venue to finish the rest. The sunset did not disappoint, it gave us the softest, most magical light, and Arianne and George looked absolutely stunning. It was such a peaceful, fun moment for them to soak everything in before heading into the excitement of the reception.

Reception

By the time the reception began, everyone was ready to celebrate. The evening kicked off with a beautiful first dance, followed by two sweet dances with their moms that had everyone smiling. One of the most touching moments was a surprise anniversary dance dedicated to Arianne’s aunt and uncle—who now share a wedding anniversary with them. It was such a thoughtful gesture and had the whole room cheering.

From there, the dance floor stayed full all night. The kids especially brought the energy, showing off their best moves and keeping the party going strong. It was the perfect end to a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Arianne and George’s wedding at Waverly Oaks was such a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do. From emotional vows and golden hour portraits to thoughtful details and nonstop dancing, their day was filled with so much joy and intention. It was truly an honor to be a part of it.
