Massachusetts offers one of the most diverse wedding landscapes in New England. The venue you choose shapes the entire experience of your day, how it flows, how it feels, and how your memories are captured.

Turner Hill – Ipswich, MA
Turner Hill is one of the most iconic estate wedding venues in Massachusetts, featuring grand staircases, manicured lawns, and timeless architecture.

The library, the ceilings, and the rich dark wood throughout the interior create an elegant atmosphere that photographs beautifully. Outside, the grand staircase and the mansion itself create a timeless backdrop for portraits.
There are many locations for photos across the property, but one of my favorite portrait spots is on the staircase with the mansion behind the couple or near the ceremony location. Having a wedding at the Peabody Essex Museum is honestly one of the coolest places you can choose. If you are looking for something modern, artistic, and different from a traditional ballroom wedding, this venue really stands out.
Because it is located in downtown Salem there are so many opportunities for portraits around the area. Couples can start portraits at Salem Common before heading to the venue, or take photos right outside the museum which has beautiful architecture and clean lines.

Why I love photographing here
Olio Event Space is a photographer’s dream because the venue acts as a true blank canvas. Without décor, the space feels modern and industrial. Once couples bring in florals, lighting, and rentals, it transforms into something entirely unique.
The large windows create beautiful natural light for daytime portraits and ceremony photos. For portraits, one of the most iconic spots is the red brick wall outside the venue which has become a favorite backdrop for couples.
The open floor plan also allows couples to create dramatic ceremony layouts, custom dance floor designs, and layered lighting installations. During the reception, the energy inside the space completely changes especially when couples add lighting design or a disco ball over the dance floor.
Why couples love it
Couples love that Olio allows them to fully customize their wedding. Because it is not an all inclusive venue, you can bring in your own vendor team including catering, rentals, florals, lighting, and entertainment.
That freedom allows couples to build a wedding that reflects their style rather than working within a preset venue package. The space can feel romantic, modern, editorial, or high energy depending on how it is designed.
Guest experience
Guests walk into a dramatic industrial space that feels open, modern, and intentionally designed. Because the venue is open concept, guests can easily move between ceremony seating, cocktail areas, lounge spaces, and the dance floor.
Many couples incorporate unique guest experiences here such as live painters, coffee carts, photo booths, or lounge seating areas that transform the space throughout the evening. When the reception starts and the lighting shifts, the atmosphere becomes incredibly energetic and fun for guests.
